THE PORTS ECOLOGICAL AND ENERGY TRANSITION: STRATEGIES, BEST PRACTICES AND FUTURE SCENARIOS
Overview

On Tuesday 28th of February, the event “THE PORTS ECOLOGICAL AND ENERGY TRANSITION: STRATEGIES, BEST PRACTICES AND FUTURE SCENARIOS”, will be held as next step of the PORTS PLUS project process.

The third appointment of the project will take place at Biblioteca Acclavio, Via Salinella n. 31, in Taranto and will see the participation of all Partners, i.e. ITS Logistica Puglia as lead partner (Italy), Programma Sviluppo (Italy), Javna ustanova Univerzitet Crne Gore (Montenegro) and the Albanian Institute of Transport (Albania).  

Furthermore, a number of high-level speakers will take part in the debates in order to give an interesting and extensive angle about the new challenges related to the blue economy. In particular, the event will be an opportunity to deepen trending topics, such as: environmental policies, port decarbonization, renewable sources, electric mobility and future scenarios of climate change. 

The meeting will start with the greetings of the President of ITS Logistica Puglia, Silvio Busico and the President of the Order of Engineers of Taranto, Prof. Luigi Alberto Ciro De Filippis. The discussion, moderated by the Project Coordinator Annachiara Stefanucci, will be organised in three different sessions, (Talk 1 at 10.15, Talk 2 at 11.30, Talk 3 at 14.30). 

Firstly, the meeting will deal with the environmental policies for the port decarbonisation in the South Adriatic area, with the interventions of Danilo Nikolic, full professor at Faculty of Maritime Studies - University of Montenegro, Florjian Xhelilaj, representative from the Albanian Institute of Transport, and Paolo Garofoli, director of the Environment Department of the Apulia Region. 

Then, a technical session will deal with the attention-grabbing topic of the energy consumption from renewable sources in the port area: in particular the Taranto offshore wind farm, with the speeches of Luigi Severini and Alessandro Severini, from iL Studio Engineering & Consulting Studio srl. Successively, the floor will be taken by Prof. Antonietta Ivona of University of Bari, speaking about the environmental policies on climate change, maritime transport and ports, and prof. Maria Dicorato from the Polytechnic of Bari with an intervention about the integrated solutions for electric mobility based on micro networks: a Technological Demonstrator for port areas.

After the networking lunch, open to the audience, the afternoon session will deal with the projects, strategies and scenarios of the “future” ports. The debate will involve the participation of: prof. Sergio Prete, President of the Port network Authority of the Ionian Sea, prof. Ugo Patroni Griffi, president of the Port Network Authority of the South Adriatic Sea, Gaetano Internò, Head of the Special Strategic Works Office of the Port Network Authority of the Ionian Sea, Floriana Gallucci, Commissioner of the Ionian Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Manlio Guadagnuolo, Commissioner of the Adriatic Interregional Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Puglia–Molise and Francesca Zampano, Officer of the Section for the Promotion of Craft Trade and Internationalisation of Enterprises. 

Everybody interested in these topics is kindly invited to take part in the event and to share perspectives with the speakers.
